SASD School Board Member Candidate (Region 2)

My name is Laurie Van Bremen and together with my running mate, Brian Brant, am asking for your vote on May 15 to be put on the November ballot for School Board Member.
I graduated from Connellsville Area High School in 1986. After working at Westmoreland Hospital for 10 years as a Medical Labratory Technician, my husband, Ken and I moved to Somerset County in 1996 and have been living in Friedens since 2000. For 12 years we have Van Bremen's Ref. & Dairy Service, Inc located on 281S. In 2006 we sold the business and I am now working part time from home for my husbands new business K&A's Mechanical Services.
The main reason for selling our business in 2006 is so that we could spend more quality time with our 2 children, Kenny who is 9 and in the third grade and Amanda who is 7 and in the first grade at Friedens Elementary. I am very active in their school with the PTSA. I am also in the classroom every week helping. I believe the amount of time I spent in the classrooms the past 4 years will be a benefit for me as a school board member.
I am interested in becoming a school board member because I am interested in education. I have 2 young children in the school system and I want to make sure decisions concerning our schools are made to benefit the students. I am willing to dedicate my time and knowledge toward enhancing each student's educational experience at Somerset School District.
